Robert I. Broida, MD, FACEPRobert I. Broida, MD, FACEP is the President of ED Quality Solutions, Inc.  Dr. Broida is a board-certified emergency physician with over 20 years experience. He has been active in emergency physician management, medical malpractice insurance and customer relations.  He has a strong track record of improving emergency department utilization, patient satisfaction and profitability; bringing experience from both local and national emergency medicine groups.  

 

Dr. Broida  currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Physicians Specialty Limited, Risk Retention Group (PSLRRG), a South Carolina captive insurance company serving the Emergency Medicine Physicians, Ltd. (EMP) physician group. He is also on the Board of Directors of PSLRRG and the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Dr. Broida is a member of the national American College of Emergency Physicians Medical-Legal Committee and the Quality and Performance Committee which is developing the ED quality measures for the CMS Pay for Performance (P4P) system.  He is also an active member of the ACEP Section on Quality Improvement / Patient Safety

Suzanne Gallagher, RN, BSN, MPA, CNASuzanne Gallagher, RN, BSN, MPA, CNA is Director of Training for ED Quality Solutions, Inc.  She has an extensive healthcare background and currently serves as the Coordinator for Ambulatory Clinical Systems for a major teaching hospital in Cleveland, where she is responsible for implementation of their nursing electronic medical record for Ambulatory Services.  Sue recently developed and implemented their new Triage Guidelines, Nursing Documentation and Patient Education tools. 

 

Sue has achieved Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN, through the Emergency Nurses Association), Certification in Nursing Administration (through the American Nurses Association) and Certification in Quality Improvement (through the Institute for Healthcare Improvement).

 

She was formerly Director of Nursing at St. Luke's Hospital Trauma Center in Cleveland with responsibility for all Critical Care units, Emergency / Trauma Services, Surgery and Orthopedic units and a Freestanding Emergency Care Center. She was integral to the start-up of the Chest Pain Unit, the Trauma Service and the Freestanding Emergency Center.    

 

Sue has lectured extensively, both locally and nationally on a variety of clinical and non-clinical topics and has extensive experience in solving difficult ED patient flow problemsIn 1999, she presented a talk entitled The Impact of the Electronic Medical Record on the Practicing Clinician at the national AAACN conference.

Nina Fielden, MSN, RN, CENNina Fielden, MSN, RN, CEN is a Clinical Instructor in Nursing Services.  She is responsible for teaching a number of our Emergency Nursing Education Programs.  Currently an Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Specialist for a major hospital in Cleveland, Nina  has 15 years experience as a Clinical Instructor in Emergency Nursing and Critical Care.

Nina received her Masters from St. Louis University in 1987 and a Post-Master's Certificate in Forensic Nursing from Duquesne University in 2004. She is Certified in Emergency Nursing (CEN) and holds Instructor status in both Neonatal Resuscitation and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Nina has Provider certifications in ACLS, the Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), TNCC and in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.

Nina has lectured nationally on a variety of topics, and has many articles and abstracts to her credit. She is a regular contributor to the Manager's Forum in the Journal of Emergency Nursing. She is an expert in ED Triage and Domestic Violence. 

Nina is a member of the ENA and serves as the 2006 President of the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the ENA.

Mary Sokolowski, RN, BSN, CENMary Sokolowski, RN, BSN, CEN is a Clinical Instructor in Nursing Services.  She is responsible for teaching a number of our Emergency Nursing Education Programs.  Currently a full-time Clinical Educator for the Emergency Department of a major hospital in Cleveland, Mary has over 16 years experience in Emergency Nursing in staff and hospital management positions. She is currently responsible for the orientation, skills labs and annual competency testing for a staff of over 200 employees. She has lectured nationally on a variety of topics, and has coordinated many Emergency Department Customer Satisfaction and Process Improvement initiatives.

Mary holds Instructor status in both Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and has been Certified in Emergency Nursing (CEN).  She holds Provider certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Mary is a member of the Emergency Nurse's Association (ENA) and recently served as Secretary for the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the ENA.

Michelle Thomas, RN is a Clinical Instructor in Nursing Services.  She is responsible for teaching a number of our Emergency Nursing Education Programs. Michelle is an active clinical Emergency Department for a major teaching hospital in Cleveland, Ohio where she is involved as a Charge Nurse, Triage Nurse and a Clinical Preceptor. She has 8 years experience in Emergency and Critical Care nursing and 20+ years as an educator. Michelle has also worked as a Clinical Instructor for Case Western Reserve University.

Michelle received her RN degree with honors from Sharon Regional School of Nursing in 1995.  She is working on obtaining her  Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) and currently holds Provider certifications in ACLSPALS and TNCC.

Patrick Gallagher, MD is a Clinical Instructor and ED Consultant.  He is responsible for teaching a number of our Emergency Education Programs and assisting in course development and emergency department consultations.  Currently an Emergency Department Physician for an urgent care center in Cleveland, Dr, Gallagher has 25 years of experience in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine and Critical Care.

Dr. Gallagher received his MD from Case Western Reserve University in 1979 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Luke's Hospital in 1982. He then became a full-time attending in the St. Luke's Hospital Emergency Department/Trauma Center, with training responsibilities for the Case Western Reserve University Medical School residents and students. He received his board certification in emergency medicine in 1988 from the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). He holds  Provider certifications in ACLS, Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and in PALS.

Dr. Gallagher is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
